Article:
Polda Metro Jaya’s Directorate of Special Criminal Investigations (Dirreskrimsus) is set to compel the attendance of former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairperson, Firli Bahuri, who has missed two summons for questioning. Dirreskrimsus chief, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, stated that when a suspect fails to appear without a valid reason, two options exist under the Criminal Procedural Code (KUHAP): compelling attendance or forceful measures.
"So, we will compel his attendance or use forceful measures," Ade Safri conveyed, quoted by Antara. However, he did not specify when Firli Bahuri’s next interrogation would take place. "We’ll update that, but we’re continuously coordinating with the Prosecutors’ Office (JPU) to conclude the case," Ade Safri added.
Ade Safri also updated that coordination with the KPK regarding the preliminary investigation held on December 23, 2024, at 10:00 WIB at the Bareskrim building has been carried out. The KPK fully supports the ongoing investigation by the joint team of Polda Metro Jaya’s Anti-Corruption Criminal Investigation Division (Tipidkor) and the National Police’s Anti-Corruption Tipidkor Unit against the handling of corruption cases involving Firli Bahuri (FB).
The coordinator inquiry revealed that there are no hurdles or obstacles regarding the fulfillment of P19 (Prosecution Efforts) by the public prosecutor’s office at the South Jakarta District Court. "In sha’ Allah, the fulfillment of P19 will not take long, and as previously stated, the preliminary investigation will be carried out professionally, transparently, and certainly concluded," Ade Safri said.
Previously, Firli Bahuri’s lawyer, Ian Iskandar, revealed that his client could not attend the summons due to attending a religious gathering. Firli Bahuri has been summoned for questioning approximately seven times, with two occasions while he was still a witness.
