A devastating turn of events has occurred in Dallas, Texas, where a 17-year-old Venezuelan girl from Cabimas, Zulia, was fatally shot after resisting a sexual advance. Keisy Fabiana Matos, the victim, was out with acquaintances in the early hours of New Year’s Eve when one of them attempted to forcefully kiss her.
Matos, described as a studious, loving, and energetic young woman, reacted by biting her attacker to fend him off. Enraged, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Matos twice in the chest, taking her life.
The two companions, both Venezuelan immigrants from La Villa del Rosario, were subsequently arrested. However, only the attacker remains behind bars, while the accomplice’s status is unknown.
Matos’ family and friends in her hometown of Tía Juana, Simón Bolívar municipality, are grappling with shock and despair following her senseless demise. She had moved to the United States two years ago.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing issue of violence against women and the urgent need for stricter consequences for such heinous crimes.
