Esteemed Honorees Receive Presidential Medal of Freedom from U.S. President
In a distinguished list of recipients announced for the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor awarded by the U.S. President, renowned figures from various fields are set to receive the prestigious accolade. Among the esteemed listees is U2’s lead singer and activist Bono, basketball legend Earvin "Magic" Johnson, long-serving Vogue editor Anna Wintour, football sensation Lionel Messi, acclaimed actors Denzel Washington and Michael Fox, and renowned fashion designer Ralph Lauren.
The White House Statement lauds these recipients as "outstanding individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the prosperity, health, security, and cultural flourishing of our country and the world."
Additional honorees include Josè Andrés, founder of the non-profit organization World Central Kitchen, and Jane Goodall, the renowned primatologist and environmental activist.
Some recipients hold prominent political ties, such as billionaire philanthropist and political donor George Soros, and Hillary Clinton, former First Lady, Senator, Secretary of State, and Democratic nominee for the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election.
George Soros is honored for his extensive support of organizations and projects worldwide that strengthen democracy, human rights, education, and social justice. Hillary Clinton, a trailblazer in politics, is recognized for her significant contributions to public service that span decades.
