The pequeña from the village of Resen in Veliko Tarnovo region has made remarkable progress, defying initial predictions from doctors that she would not be able to move.
Born in the UK where her parents, Kiril and Polina Stoyanovi met, Freya’s brain was deprived of oxygen during delivery, leading to cerebral palsy. "After we came to Bulgaria, we learned the full extent of her condition from the relevant doctors and specialists. The prognosis was bleak, but we never gave up hope," shared Kiril.
Through numerous rehabilitations and operations, including a procedure on her leg late last year, Freya has made extraordinary strides. "Against all odds, she can now walk," Polina beamed. "She’s a fighter, understanding everything we say despite her limited verbal abilities."
Raising awareness and support for other families dealing with hardships, Freya’s selfless act serves as an inspiration. "We believe she will overcome all obstacles and grow up to be a strong, independent individual like any other child," her parents asserted.
Freya, who attends a local kindergarten, has won hearts with her radiant smile. Her hair, which she had dutifully nurtured, will now bring comfort to another child undergoing chemotherapy. Her parents expressed pride in her compassion and resilience, which transcends her condition.
