Bus Plunges Into Ditch; Passengers Trapped by Heavy Snowfall
In a unexpected turn of events, a bus skidded off the road and slid into a ditch, leaving three passengers and the driver temporarily trapped. The incident, which occurred in the Sør-Øst police district, could have resulted in a serious situation, but fortunately, no one was injured.
Operational leader Inge Omli Landsrød at Sør-Øst police district confirmed the incident via the police log. "We received an emergency call about a bus that had left the road and was wedged halfway down a ditch," Landsrød wrote.
Despite the bus’s precarious position, the situation was quickly contained. The passengers and driver were unharmed, although they were unable to escape due to heavy snow blocking all the doors. The bus company was promptly alerted, and police operators were dispatched to the scene.
The cause of the accident was attributed to the buildup of snow on the roads. While such incidents can be unnerving, the quick response and professional handling by the authorities ensured that this potentially disastrous situation was resolved without any injuries.
