Subtle Despite Avoiding Freeze, Roads Remain Treacherous: Icy Spells Persist Until Mid-Morning
Despite an overnight temperature slightly above freezing, commuters were caught off guard by icy roads this morning. "It’s deceptively slippery out there, with road temperatures hovering just below the freezing point," says Roland van der Zwaag, meteorologist at RTV Drenthe. "Several light showers, with some hail in places, have added to the challenge. After such rain, surfaces can remain slippery, especially on untreated or freshly treated sections."
The icy conditions persisted until around 11 AM, demanding extra caution from drivers.
