A group of lawyers assembled on the lawns of the Supreme Court to collectively recite the Preamble to the Constitution under the banner “Save Democracy, Save Constitution,” according to event records. The demonstration coincided with continued protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, which began on June 20 to demand accountability over the alleged examination irregularities and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Anita Dipke, mother of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, told Marathi news channel Zee 24 Taas in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar that watching students beaten like animals was extremely painful. She appealed to the government to listen to agitating students and release those detained, adding that visits from leaders like NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray, and activist Manoj Jarange offered reassurance.

Delhi Metro Closures and Preventive Detention Extension
Services on seventeen Delhi Metro stations remained disrupted for the second consecutive day as crowd sizes swelled at Jantar Mantar, according to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Stations closed until further instructions included Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, and later Jhandewalan. Commuters reported higher travel expenses and longer routes, with Mahipal Dhaka and Amit Kumar noting extended travel times and early departures to reach work. In an official notification issued on July 15, the Delhi government’s Home Department extended the Delhi Police commissioner’s power of preventive detention under Sub Section (2) of Section 3 of the National Security Act (NSA) until October 18.
