This extension is specifically designed to provide metro access to the Central Vista area, which is currently undergoing redevelopment.
The Central Vista corridor will offer connectivity to all Kartavya Bhawans, providing direct access for commuters and visitors. Officials estimate that approximately 60,000 office goers and 200,000 visitors will benefit daily from this improved connectivity. The Aerocity – Airport Terminal -1 and Tughlakabad – Kalindi Kunj sections will extend the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor.

Minister Vaishnaw indicated that the expansion will improve connectivity between the airport and southern Delhi areas, including Tughlakabad, Saket, and Kalindi Kunj. He also stated that the project is expected to boost the economy by expanding the Delhi Metro’s reach in Central Delhi and around the Domestic Airport.
Currently, the Delhi Metro operates 12 lines spanning approximately 395 kilometers with 289 stations. The network handles an average of 6.5 million passenger journeys each day and has been in operation for 23 years.
