Boston College’s Abby Ptak drove in all three runs for the Eagles, with a two-run single in the first inning and a solo home run in the fifth off Longwood’s Maggie Chapin. Chapin pitched a complete game, scattering six hits and recording eight strikeouts.

Did You Know? Longwood’s Maggie Chapin has now pitched three consecutive complete games.

Longwood head coach Dr. Megan Brown emphasized the importance of consistent effort, stating, “Great process leads to great results. Right now, our process isn’t consistent so the results aren’t what we aim for.”

Chapin successfully navigated a bases-loaded situation in the third inning and left two runners stranded in the fourth. Longwood threatened again in the seventh inning after a single by Sarah Terrell.

Expert Insight: A team’s early-season performance, as Dr. Brown notes, is often less about immediate wins and losses and more about establishing consistent routines and identifying areas for improvement as the season progresses.

Longwood (0-5) will next host the Longwood Invitational at Bank of the James Park, beginning Friday, February 13th, with a 3 p.m. Game against Toledo.
