For any reorganization, the human factors of trust, sense of control, identity and status require far more observation than any observability tool can provide,” Hagstoem said.

Organizational change inevitably creates friction. A key to managing this friction is establishing clear accountability. Kale suggests making decision rights explicit and auditable from the outset.

IBM is addressing this challenge by forming “AI fusion teams” that bring together CIOs and business functions.
