The game featured a tense moment in the third inning when a Riley O’Brien sinker ran up and in on Rays third baseman Junior Caminero, hitting him in the hand. Caminero jogged straight to the clubhouse after gathering himself, but subsequent X-rays confirmed there was no fracture in his hand. He is expected to suit up on Friday against the Red Sox, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.
“I feel good,” Caminero said. “Thank God that nothing’s broken, and it was just more of a scare more than anything.”

Following the game, O’Brien sought out Caminero in the opposing clubhouse to check on him. “He was very understanding,” O’Brien said, as relayed by Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “And classy about it.”

For the Yankees, Bellinger’s performance is critical as the team pursues World Series aspirations. The Yankees enter the second half of the season with legitimate championship goals and have remained among the American League’s top contenders despite battling numerous injuries. The team is currently awaiting the return of Aaron Judge.
