Bonnaroo Cancels 2027 Festival Due to Severe Weather

Festival organizers announced Bonnaroo will skip 2027, taking a planned hiatus to allow the Manchester, Tennessee grounds to recover from consecutive years of severe weather and heavy rainstorms that damaged Centeroo and campground infrastructure.

Why Bonnaroo Is Taking a Year Off in 2027

The annual multi-day music festival in Manchester, Tenn. will not take place in 2027, according to an announcement shared by organizers on Friday, August 21, 2026. The decision stems from the toll that consecutive years of severe weather have taken on the festival site, widely known as The Farm.

While organizers invested a great deal of effort and money into site preparation before the June 2026 event, Mother Nature still managed to disrupt operations. Heavy rain on the festival’s final day compounded earlier weather challenges, leaving organizers with little time to recuperate between festival cycles. Organizers said they invested in improved drainage, 4.5 miles of new roadways, and 135 acres of new grass ahead of the 2026 festival. With limited time to recuperate from back-to-back years of storms, including the heavy rainstorm on Sunday this year, The Farm, particularly the main venue, needs a break to rest and recover. Bonnaroo plans to use the year off to allow the Manchester festival site to recover before the event returns.

Weather Challenges and Infrastructure Upgrades at The Farm

Weather disruptions have repeatedly impacted recent editions of the festival. Bonnaroo’s 2025 installment was canceled after its Thursday night performances due to weather, and the 2026 festival’s Sunday programming was delayed for the same reason. Severe weather forced officials to evacuate and temporarily close Centeroo during the final day of Bonnaroo 2026, leaving parts of The Farm muddy when it reopened.

Ahead of the 2026 festival, crew members spent months working to improve the campgrounds and Centeroo. Those investments included improved drainage, 4.5 miles of new roadways, and 135 acres of new grass, all which strengthened The Farm’s resiliency to Mother Nature. Yet, heavy rainfall on the final day highlighted the persistent difficulties of maintaining the property through back to back years of storms.

“After back-to-back years of storms, The Farm needs time to rest and recover. So, Bonnaroo will take a much-needed year off in 2027. This wasn’t an easy decision, but we know this break will only make Bonnaroo better. Thank you for loving this festival as much as we do.”

“Our hearts are filled to the brim from the weekend that we shared in June. The Farm remains as special as ever, and for a few days, we were once again reminded of the good things in this world.”

Organizers plan to utilize the hiatus to restore the grounds before bringing the multi-day gathering back to Manchester. In their message to ticket-holders and fans, they concluded the post by stating: We hope you'll continue radiating positivity in your community throughout the year and thank you for loving this festival as much as we do.
