The subject had been missing since January 1999 after being abducted at a young age.
The system matched genetic facial features derived from photographs of the parents and older brother to identify the individual, who grew up in Chengdu. This case formed one of four missing person investigations successfully resolved by police using Deepglint software over a six-month period, all confirmed through DNA testing.
“I have waited for this day for 25 years,” said Xie Kefeng, the biological father of Xie Qingshuai, according to state media coverage.
Similar search technologies have been deployed by other major technology firms in the region. According to China Daily, the Fujian Provincial Police successfully located more than 500 missing persons within six months using facial recognition systems developed by YouTu Lab.

Police authorities also clarified social media rumors regarding surveillance infrastructure in the Graha Raya area, confirming that no static ETLE cameras are mounted on roadside poles across the Tangerang Selatan jurisdiction. The mobile ETLE system automatically transmits captured violation images to the Tangerang Selatan Police data center in real time, where automated processing triggers notification messages containing photographic evidence sent via SMS or WhatsApp to vehicle owners.
