Chief Executive David Ellison indicated the studio’s corporate base could leave California unless a settlement is reached by the October 1 deadline. Behind the friction is a ticking financial fee clause within the merger contract, which is valued at billions of dollars with entertainment company Warner Bros. Discovery. Economic Feasibility of Leaving Hollywood

Industry analysts question whether an actual corporate relocation is economically viable for the studio. Strategy expert Gabe Lezra noted that Paramount’s stock price faces ongoing pressure and the acquisition relies partly on debt financing. “I can’t imagine a scenario where subsequently the stock price rises and shareholders remain satisfied,” Lezra said, adding that wholesale relocation could stall dozens of upcoming film productions.
