Two-Minute Scans Target Ten Conditions
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given in-principle approval to introduce an artificial intelligence-powered multi-disease scanner in the province. The move is aimed at making medical screening and diagnosis faster and more effective.
According to a government handout issued on Sunday and reported by UrduPoint, the technology uses non-contrast CT solutions to screen for up to 10 diseases within approximately two minutes. It is designed to support healthcare professionals with early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and management.
Alibaba Executive Briefing in Lahore
The chief minister reviewed the advanced technology during a meeting in Lahore with senior executives of the Chinese technology company Alibaba, according to official briefing details.
The system places particular emphasis on the early detection of five potentially fatal cancers. It assists doctors in diagnosing pancreatic and liver cancers while screening for gastric, pancreatic, esophageal, colorectal, and liver conditions.
Broad Diagnostic Scope Beyond Oncology
Beyond cancer screening, the AI-based platform tackles a wide array of chronic and acute health threats.
The system can screen for Acute Aortic Syndrome, assess cardiovascular disease risks, evaluate fat and muscle health, assist with osteoporosis assessments for bone weakness, and help detect fatty liver disease.
Pilot Project Mandated for Provincial Health
Following her in-principle approval, Chief Minister Maryam directed provincial health authorities to prepare a pilot project to introduce the system across Punjab. She emphasized the importance of harnessing modern technology to strengthen early detection and expand accessible diagnostic facilities.
According to briefing data, the technology is intended to complement rather than replace conventional diagnostic methods, offering physicians an additional tool for rapid, comprehensive patient assessments. Murree Infrastructure Inspection Tour
In a separate engagement, a team led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi, visited various ongoing development projects in Murree to review construction progress and quality. Officials on the ground briefed the visiting delegation on construction standards and project pacing.
Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi stated that the visit served as a welcome step to improve the pace and quality of district development. He added that projects are moving quickly in line with the chief minister’s vision while utilizing all available resources for timely completion.
