Following King Oyo’s passing, the Tooro Kingdom’s Royal Succession Committee moved to fill the vacancy. Out of 18 members present for the vote, 15 favored selecting Kamurasi to become the next omukama, or king. Ugandan news outlets report that Kamurasi has not yet made a public statement regarding his selection, and he is believed to hold reservations about accepting the crown because he currently lives in Britain with his wife and son and is reluctant to uproot his family.
