European Space Agency officials are moving forward with plans to build an independent radar for the Envision Venus orbiter after persistent funding issues and launch delays at NASA left the mission’s primary hardware contribution in limbo, according to agency statements reported by Ars.

According to ESA science communications officer Camilla Straume-Lindner, final agreements with NASA indicate that the U.S. space agency will likely be unable to provide the anticipated radar system.
