Jorja Smith and Robyn Lead 2026 Independent Music Award Winners
Smith secured the best independent track prize for “The Way I Love You,” released in May 2025 on her FAMM label, which previously peaked at No. 39 on the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, according to award organizers. The victory marks Smith’s second overall trophy at the event, following her independent breakthrough win in 2018. Meanwhile, Robyn captured the best independent album award for her ninth studio album, Sexistential, released via Young.
Breakthrough Stars and Genre Winners
Soul artist Jalen Ngonda, signed to Daptone and nominated across three categories, earned the independent breakthrough prize. Jim Legxacy claimed the best independent mixtape/EP category for his Mercury Prize-nominated project Black British Music (2025), released through XL Recordings.
