Fashion designer Osmany Laffita confirmed the heavy investment in time and capital paid off through business returns rather than mere publicity, according to statements the designer provided to Blesk following the event. While Laffita did not disclose the exact financial figures of the production, he confirmed the heavy investment in time and capital paid off through business returns rather than mere publicity.
Financial Strategy Behind the High-Cost Production
Laffita stated that preparations for the elaborate showcase began in January, requiring substantial financial and personal investment. “I’m seriously satisfied. I don’t need to show off in front of anyone, only those who aren’t sure of themselves do that,” Laffita said, emphasizing the commercial nature of the enterprise. “For me, it’s mostly about business—I invest my money and I want it back. I don’t dress all of Prague just so people talk about me, I dress my regular clientele. And people have been talking about me and my work since 1999.”
Logistical Pressures and Precision Timing
The designer admitted to severe pre-show anxiety before the launch of the event, which featured dramatic moments, high-end automotive integration, and star appearances. “I had huge nerves before the show. I was suppressing them inside and half an hour before the start it exploded,” Laffita said. “I turned pale and was wildly nervous because I am a huge perfectionist and pedant. I want everything to be perfect down to the minute—and today’s show, the music, the models, and the cars clicked down to the exact second.”
Securing DJ Paul van Dyka
A major highlight of the production involved securing electronic music artist Paul van Dyka for the event, a booking Laffita described as exceptionally difficult. “Getting Paul van Dyka was terribly hard, he doesn’t go to smaller-scale events like this, he’s used to megaparks in Ibiza or Tomorrowland,” Laffita noted. “But he googled me, called my husband for more info, and eventually composed the music directly tailored for my show. He wasn’t cheap, but it was worth it.”
Charity Auction Raises Millions for Kapka Naděje
The post-show historical Mercedes-Benz auction yielded 2 500 000 korun for the Kapka Naděje foundation, headed by Vendula Pizingerová. “Mainly, this will cover half a year of operation of the device we were raising funds for,” Pizingerová said. The specialized equipment simplifies and improves liver transplant procedures, carrying an annual operational cost of 5 milionů korun while enabling ten additional transplants per year. “This is half, so I’m terribly satisfied and I would like to thank very much everyone who bid,” Pizingerová added.
