Apple released Siri AI on September 14, 2026, as a major update to its 2027 software suite. The overhauled assistant offers personal context, onscreen awareness, and systemwide app actions, but access is restricted to newer hardware models and specific regions, with some advanced features requiring premium access in the future.
Hardware Requirements for Siri AI
Not every Apple device can run the new Siri AI. Mac: Models with Apple silicon, including M1 and later, and the A18 Pro chip. Apple Watch: Series 9, Ultra 2, and SE 3, provided they are paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone. Even among these devices, there is a further tier of performance. Features like customizable voice pace and expressiveness are limited to select hardware, including iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone Air, iPad models with M4 or later and at least 12GB of unified memory, and Mac models with M3 or later and at least 12GB of unified memory, and Apple Vision Pro (M5).
Capabilities and Regional Availability
Siri AI is designed to act as a more conversational and context-aware assistant. According to Apple, the system can answer questions or take actions related to the content on a user’s screen and search through personal data like emails and messages to fulfill requests. For example, the assistant can pull a recipe from a past email and automatically add the required ingredients to a user’s Reminders list.
Today marks the initial launch of the English-language beta, which is scheduled for expansion next month to include Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, and French.
Users can access the Siri AI beta on watchOS 27, visionOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, iPadOS 27, and iOS 27, provided their Apple Account belongs to a qualified region and both their device and assistant languages match a supported option.
Subscription Models and Usage Limits
While the assistant is available in beta, Apple has signaled that heavy reliance on its AI models will carry costs. Apple has verified that server-backed Apple Intelligence capabilities, such as Siri AI, face caps on daily use that fluctuate according to system load and how complicated a prompt is. Apple further indicated that expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future. To sign up for the waitlist, individuals need to open Settings, select Siri, choose Try Siri AI (Beta), adhere to the prompts to select a voice, finish voice setup, and check their privacy preferences. Once the wait is complete, Siri AI will begin to download automatically.

Thanks to a specialized Siri application and iCloud, conversation logs are securely synchronized across your hardware, allowing a session initiated on an iPhone to be resumed on an iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, or Apple Watch.
