Thousands Still Without Power: Loviech, Troyan Residents Brace for Seventh Day of Outages

Residents in Loviech and Troyan are nearing the end of their sixth day without electricity, with local officials scrambling to restore power and seeking compensation for the prolonged outages. The New Year’s holiday has brought little respite for these communities, with some areas still awaiting resolution.

Loviech Mayor Straciimir Petkov said that over 15 households have reported being without power. "We have assurance from the electricity distribution company that no subscriber will be left without power by New Year’s Eve," he stated, but added that the ongoing issues have led to collective complaints being filed with the ombudsman, energy minister, regional governor, and Western Regional Electricity Management.

Petkov also mentioned plans for legal action against the electricity provider, saying, "We will seek compensation for the inconvenience caused during the most joyous holidays."

Troyan Mayor Donka Mikhailova reported that isolated subscribers in seven villages remain without power due to a lack of phase supply, although major distribution issues have been addressed. She expressed hope that power would be restored before New Year’s, keeping her in constant contact with the energy minister.

Residents in both municipalities have begun preparing for a potential new civil protest on January 2 in front of the local electrical company’s office.

In related news, communities around Bozhentsi and some neighborhoods in Gabrovo continue to suffer power outages. Inhabitants have been resorting to generators for warmth and cooking, expressing discontent with the insufficient compensation for the disruption during the holidays.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved additional compensation worth 2 million BGN for 20,000 households affected by the outages. The situation remains fluid, with affected communities eagerly awaiting news on when their power will be restored.
