The production, the first in the Collective’s New Works Reading Series, reimagines the events leading up to Francis Pharcellus Church’s iconic response to a young girl’s question about Santa Claus. The musical centers on Church, described as an initially uncaring journalist, and Amelia O’Connor, an Irish immigrant facing hardship in 1890s Manhattan.
“Yes, Virginia” aims to explore themes of truth, immigration, and the American experience. The Collective is seeking actors and singers of all voice types, genders, and races for the production.

Auditions are open to performers local to New York City, or those able to commit to rehearsals and the performance. Rehearsals are scheduled for March 18th, 20th, 25th, and 27th, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, at locations within New York City that will be announced later. The performance is set for March 28th at 7:30 PM, with a 6:30 PM call time, at The RAT NYC in Brooklyn (68-117 Jay St, Brooklyn, NY 11201).
Specific roles being cast include Francis (High Baritone or Tenor), Amelia (Soprano), Elizabeth (Mezzo), Hattie (Alto), and William (spoken role).
