Tiruvananthapuram: In a significant development, the state’s vigilance department has cleared ADGP Aji Kumar of all major allegations levelled against him. The charges, including illicit wealth accumulation, undervaluing apartments for resale and tax evasion, gold scandal links, and influence in timber smuggling at an SP camp in Malappuram, have been found baseless by the investigations.

PV Anwar MLA, who initially raised these allegations, submitted the complaint. However, the vigilance report has refuted all claims, asserting there’s no factual evidence to support any of them. The report will be handed over shortly.

In the aftermath of the government approving the proposal to elevate Aji Kumar to the post of DGP, this clearance is particularly notable. The vigilance team has also confirmed that there’s no case against him in the remaining accusation—his suspected involvement in controversial incidents, including a procession dispute in Thrissur and a clandestine meeting with RSS leaders.
