Ciudad Juárez Boosts Vaccination Campaigns Against Flu and COVID-19
The city of Ciudad Juárez is making significant strides in its vaccination campaigns against influenza and COVID-19, according to Chihuahua State Health Secretary Gilberto Baeza. As of now, the flu vaccination drive has achieved a 43% coverage rate, with over 80,000 doses administered across the city.
The vaccination effort has focused on vulnerable groups, including children, elderly individuals, those with chronic diseases, and pregnant women. The state’s goal is to reach full coverage in the coming months, especially with the respiratory illness season approaching.
For COVID-19, the Abdala vaccine is currently being administered in various health centers and special modules across the city. However, some residents have shown reluctance towards this vaccine, opting instead for commercial alternatives such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Moderna, which are available in local pharmacies at prices ranging from 950 to 1,200 pesos.

Baeza urged citizens to take advantage of the free vaccination campaigns, emphasizing the importance of protecting against both influenza and COVID-19 to prevent severe complications.
Both diseases pose a high risk, particularly for vulnerable groups, making timely immunization crucial during the winter season. To ensure equitable access, health authorities will continue to expand vaccination schedules and bring application points closer to remote communities. They are also working on medical staff training and efficient vaccine distribution, especially in rural or hard-to-reach areas.
