Flight RS511 Delayed After Fire Erupts in Cabin Baggage

Flight RS511 was preparing to depart for Da Nang, Vietnam, at approximately 21:00 local time when the fire broke out in the cabin. According to aviation industry sources cited by Yonhap, flames emerged from a bag stored underneath a passenger seat. The bag contained a lithium-ion power bank, which industry reports identified as the source of the fire.

Cabin crew members intervened immediately, successfully extinguishing the flames before the fire could spread. Following the incident, local firefighters arrived at the aircraft to conduct safety inspections and verify that all passengers remained secure.

Evacuation, Passenger Safety, and Replacement Aircraft

The aircraft was carrying 221 passengers and seven crew members at the time of the emergency. Airline officials confirmed that no injuries or fatalities resulted from the incident.

Air Seoul provided a replacement aircraft to transport the passengers to Da Nang once safety checks concluded. The departure was delayed by approximately two hours and fifty minutes past its original schedule.
