Headline: Super Airjet Flight Delay: Pilot’s Fault, Not Airports’, Says Angkasa Pura II
Article:
Pekanbaru, Indonesia – In response to the Super Airjet flight IU 914 delay from Jakarta to Pekanbaru, which stranded passengers in the cabin for two hours on Friday, December 27, Executive General Manager (EGM) of PT Angkasa Pura II Pekanbaru, Radityo Ari Purwoko, has issued a statement. Radityo clarified that the airport’s operation extension policy was not to blame for the incident.
"Pilot’s negligence caused the delay," Radityo stated. "We always grant operation extensions and have never rejected any airline’s request."
Radityo emphasized that Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru typically operates until 9 PM WIB and is prepared to provide extensions upon request, asseen during the recent Idul Fitri holiday when it extended operations until 2:30 AM.
"The claim that our airport only operates until 9 PM is incorrect," he added. "The onus was on the airline or the flight crew to requesting an extension, which they failed to do."
Radityo noted that the responsibility for this issue lies with the airline or the flight crew, not the airport management.
