Greater Akron/Canton wrestlers competed in five district tournaments around the state on March 7, 2026, securing their bids for the next stage of competition.
Perrysburg Division I District
Perrysburg emerged as the team champion in the Division I district tournament, qualifying 12 wrestlers for the state tournament. They had two district champions and eight runners-up. St. Edward finished second with 11 state qualifiers, five district champions and one runner-up. Brecksville secured third place with 11 state qualifiers and district champions Rylan Seacrist (113 pounds), Cole Speer (144), Drew Moro (157), Zack Aquila (165), and Cole Ditzig (285). Highland as well had a strong showing, with district champion Austin Bickerton (120) and seven state qualifiers. Karson Brown of St. Edward and Hinckley won a title at 138.
Wadsworth Division I District
Perry won the team title at the Wadsworth Division I District, sending eight wrestlers to the state tournament. They boasted district champions Lincoln Rohr (126), Liston Seibert (132), Mason Rohr (144), Brennan Warwick (175), and Caige Horak (190). Louisville will send six wrestlers to state, despite not having a district champion. Hoover’s Costantinos Paxos (106) and Wadsworth’s Kyle Jardine also secured district championships. Medina qualified three wrestlers, all of whom—Dominic Difilippo (113), Taegan Gilmore (120), and Cliff Nicholson (285)—won district titles.
Division I Wrestling State Qualifiers
In addition to those already mentioned, district champions include Rylan Seacrist of Brecksville (113), Austin Bickerton of Highland, Cole Speer of Brecksville (144), Drew Moro of Brecksville (157), and Zack Aquila of Brecksville (165). Cole Ditzig of Brecksville also won a title at 285.
Kenston Division II District
Perry also excelled in the Division II Kenston District, winning the team title with five state qualifiers and two district champions. St. Vincent-St. Mary qualified five wrestlers, all finishing as runners-up, and placed third in the team standings. Streetsboro had three state qualifiers and district champion Jarreau Walker (113). CVCA secured district championships with Rocco Czarnecki (132) and Paul Tepley (190), qualifying three wrestlers. Ian Bee of Tallmadge won a district title as the lone qualifier for his school. Alliance had two state qualifiers and district champion John Beltz (157), while Hoban’s Brydon Feister (285) was the only qualifier for his team.
Independence Division III District
Waynedale led the Division III Independence District, qualifying 10 wrestlers and claiming three district championships. Lake Catholic was second with six state qualifiers and three champions, including Twinsburg resident Danny Zmorowski (215). Tuslaw qualified four wrestlers and had three runners-up. Southeast had three state qualifiers and district champions Dominic Kemble (138) and Gavin Cantera (144). Rootstown had one state qualifier, Kiel Rueting, who was a district runner-up.
Coschocton Division III District
Barnesville dominated the Coschocton Division III District, qualifying seven wrestlers and winning three weight classes to claim the team title. Garaway qualified eight wrestlers and had one district champion, finishing second. Fairless did not qualify any wrestlers for the state tournament.
