Ukraine Boosts soldiers’ Preparation with Extended Training Period
Ukrainian Army increases basic military training duration to two months for enhanced combat readiness and personnel safety.
In a strategic move to fortify its military capabilities, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have extended the duration of basic military training. This decision, announced by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrskyi, aims to ensure high-quality training and safeguard the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.
The new two-month training program was discussed at a recent meeting chaired by Syrskyi, attended by high-ranking officials including Chiefs of Staff and various branch commanders. "Quality training means preserving the lives and health of our warriors," Syrskyi emphasized in his Facebook post.
Previously, the training period stood at 30 days. However, with the extended duration, batches of newly trained recruits completing 1.5-months of basic military training have already begun graduating. Following this, they undergo a further 5-14 day acclimatization period in their respective military units.
Syrskyi underlined the importance of a comprehensive 14-day orientation program for new recruits in brigades, stating, "Commanders must ensure these new soldiers are adequately prepared to face the challenges of modern warfare."
Earlier reports from theUkrainian National Information Agency (UNIAN) highlighted that while medical examinations for conscription became laxer in 2023 compared to 2022, measures are being taken to ensure improved health assessments. Additionally, the increased duration of basic military training has led to more practical exercises and enhanced anti-drone training.
As the conflict continues, the Ukrainian army’s focus on solidifying its forces’ combat readiness and safety remains unwavering. This latest development underscores Ukraine’s commitment to preparing its military personnel for the challenges ahead.
