The bus driver has been automatically charged under section 3 of the Norwegian Road Traffic Act, which states that everyone must drive with care, consideration, and alertness to avoid causing danger or harm, and to not unnecessarily impede or disrupt other traffic.

Further investigations will focus on clarifying the circumstances leading to the tragic loss of three lives. Police advicate Rønning-Nyvold noted that this is a meticulous and time-consuming process, and definitive answers are not expected anytime soon.
The bus involved was owned by Boreal and was traveling from Narvik to Svolvær in Vågan municipality, Lofoten.
