An Amazon Prime Air flight arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, veered off the pavement during landing on Sunday afternoon, according to federal aviation authorities. The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft, operated by 21 Air, breached the airport perimeter road and collided with several cars before coming to rest in a field near the northwest end of the airfield.
Runway Overrun and Ground Stop at Miami International Airport
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that Prime Air Flight 7598 overran the runway around 2:00 p.m. ET after departing earlier in the day from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan. Video obtained by WSVN shows the Prime Air 767 at the end of Runway 30 at the airport. Video footage from the site captured thick, black smoke billowing from the aircraft as emergency personnel converged on the wreckage.
The Miami-Dade Aviation Department announced that all runways and taxiways at the facility were closed as of 3:00 p.m. The FAA initially issued a ground stop on all departing and arriving aircraft until 3:00 p.m., then extended the restriction through 5:30 p.m. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that the ground stop was ordered to allow emergency crews clear access to the accident site, warning travelers of significant delays and potential cancellations.

Images from the crash perimeter showed the wide-body cargo plane resting near two semi-trucks, with its tail section extending toward the airport fence line. The airplane crossed the perimeter road, crossed Northwest 67th Avenue and came to a stop in field, according to video.

Flight tracking data from FlightAware showed approximately 250 flight delays across the airport by late Sunday afternoon. Aviation authorities cautioned that flight disruptions would persist even after the terminal lifted its ground restrictions, with arrivals and departures expected to resume at a reduced rate.
