Utrecht Residents Evacuated Due to Sinkhole Near Gas Line
In a proactive measure, four homes in Utrecht have been temporarily evacuated following a gas pipeline threat. The precaution was taken after a sinkhole was discovered near the gas line, posing a risk of water intrusion. Water in a gas pipeline can trigger various issues, including power outages and damage to gas meters and other appliances.
A spokesperson for the Veiligheidsregio Utrecht (VRU) confirmed the evacuation, stating that residents have been temporarily housed with family and friends while the situation is addressed. Authorities are currently working diligently to repair the sinkhole and ensure the safety of the residents.
