American Express is offering a mid-year fast-track to KrisFlyer Elite Gold status for KrisFlyer Ascend cardholders who spend S$15,000 between 17 June and 16 December 2026. To qualify, members must charge at least S$5,000 to Singapore Airlines, Scoot, KrisShop, or Pelago, with a maximum of S$1,000 allowed from KrisShop and Pelago combined. Unlike standard annual promotions, this offer is open to all cardholders regardless of when they opened their account, provided they do not already hold Solitaire PPS Club, PPS Club, or KrisFlyer Elite Gold status.
How to meet the S$15,000 spending requirement
The total S$15,000 requirement consists of two distinct components: a specialized travel-related spend and a general retail spend.
According to American Express terms, the S$5,000 travel/lifestyle portion must be booked directly through Singapore Airlines (singaporeair.com or mobile app), Scoot (flyscoot.com or mobile app), or official channels for KrisShop and Pelago. Transactions made via third-party travel agencies or online travel aggregators (OTAs) do not count toward this threshold.
The remaining S$10,000 can be satisfied through general retail spending. However, cardholders should avoid excluded categories, such as government services, education, insurance premiums, and GrabPay top-ups. While CardUp payments are eligible, standard public transport transactions like MRT and bus rides are excluded.
Is the fast-track worth the annual fee?
Cardholders must pay the S$397.85 annual fee to be eligible for the status upgrade. For those hitting the target by 31 August 2026, the fee must be paid between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026. For later qualifiers, the payment window extends to 16 December 2026.
The opportunity cost remains high. Because the Ascend card earns 1.2 miles per dollar (mpd) on general spend and 2 mpd on travel, users potentially sacrifice significant rewards compared to cards offering 4 mpd. If a user diverted S$15,000 of spending from a 4 mpd card to the Ascend, they could forgo roughly 38,000 miles in potential value.

What happens after you qualify?
Once you meet the spending criteria, your account will be upgraded to KrisFlyer Elite Gold status. If you qualify by 31 August 2026, the upgrade takes effect by 31 October 2026. If you qualify after that date, the upgrade is processed by 28 February 2027.
The status remains valid for 12 months from the date of the upgrade. After this period, you must meet the standard requirement of 50,000 Elite miles within a 12-month membership year to maintain your status.
