Anthropic is launching the Claude Frontier Academy backed by a $100 million commitment to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027, according to anthropic.com. The initiative targets the talent shortage in enterprise AI implementation by teaching engineers the same deployment standards used by Anthropic’s own technical teams.
Anthropic Commits $100 Million to Train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers
Every enterprise wants to bring artificial intelligence into its operations, but finding professionals with the specific skills to make the technology function inside a real business remains a primary obstacle, anthropic.com reported. A small group of highly skilled engineers typically drives an outsized share of what AI delivers within organizations. To address this talent gap, the newly launched Claude Frontier Academy aims to scale up a workforce capable of taking Claude from a conceptual idea to a production-ready system.
“A small team of high-agency people with the right skills, access to Claude, and a deep understanding of how their business runs can transform an entire company,” Steve Corfield, Global Head of Business Development and Partnerships at Anthropic, stated according to anthropic.com. Corfield noted that developing engineers with the highest level of AI fluency who can turn technology into faster processes and new products is the hardest part of enterprise adoption.
Residency Model Prepares Engineers for Enterprise Deployments
The Academy’s primary offering, the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency, follows the medical model for building expertise. Just as doctors learn from practicing physicians and train on real cases before working alone, FDE Residency engineers learn from practitioners, practice on realistic cases, and undergo assessments before earning their credentials, anthropic.com reported. Organizations nominate their strongest software engineers who have strong fundamentals, experience building with LLMs, and a track record of helping others adopt AI. Each nominated engineer arrives with a named Claude project to lead upon returning to their organization.
The curriculum begins with a multi-day in-person program in San Francisco, New York, or London, where participants work alongside Anthropic engineers and licensed instructors. Participants go through a simulated enterprise deployment—from use case selection and security review to handover—and conclude with a graded practical on a new scenario. Candidates who pass earn the Claude Resident Engineer badge and enter a 12-week residency, leading a real Claude use case at their home organization with support from Anthropic engineers. A final assessment at the end of the 12 weeks grants successful participants the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge, with the first graduates expected in early 2027.
Major Consulting Firms and Financial Institutions Join First Cohorts
The inaugural cohorts draw from prominent global enterprises and professional services firms, including Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk, according to anthropic.com. These organizations are positioning their technical teams to build governed AI solutions at scale.
“At Accenture, forward deployed engineers translate AI ambition into enterprise-wide impact, working inside client workflows as part of multidisciplinary teams that engineer AI concepts into production-ready, governed solutions built to scale,” representatives for Accenture stated, according to anthropic.com. Meanwhile, representatives for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia noted that their teams have produced up to three times more code changes over the past year using AI tools, and the residency will help teams engineer better products for customers.
Novo Nordisk is integrating the training into its scientific workflows. Representatives for Novo Nordisk stated via anthropic.com that the company utilizes Claude Science in R&D, frontier models in software development, and lab-in-the-loop research in drug discovery. The training allows engineers to work alongside Anthropic experts to help bring new medicines to patients faster.
Expanding on the Claude Partner Network
The new Academy builds on the existing Claude Partner Network, where professionals across 46,000 firms have earned more than 175,000 Claude certifications, anthropic.com reported. Nearly 4,000 individuals have completed Basecamp, an immersive program covering the curriculum used to onboard Anthropic's own Applied AI teams. Training 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers represents the next step in scaling technical fluency across customer and partner organizations.
