Anwar Ibrahim Threatens Defamation Lawsuit Against PAS Deputy Tuan Ibrahim

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will file a defamation lawsuit against PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man if the PAS leader fails to respond within 48 hours to a formal legal demand letter sent via email on July 30, according to Anwar’s lawyer Datuk Sankara Narayan Nair.

Details of the Letter of Demand Sent to Tuan Ibrahim

Datuk Sankara Narayan Nair stated that he acted directly on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s instructions to issue the letter of demand. The legal notice targets a series of remarks made outside Parliament on June 14, 2026, which were subsequently republished across social media platforms.

According to the legal counsel, the demand letter requires Tuan Ibrahim to immediately withdraw the contested remarks, issue an unconditional public apology, and provide a formal written undertaking promising not to repeat the allegations. Furthermore, the letter demands financial compensation and the coverage of legal costs incurred by the prime minister.

“The recipient has been given forty eight (48) hours to respond, failing which our instructions are to commence legal proceedings without further notice,” Sankara said in a statement released on the evening of July 30.

Origin of the Contested Remarks and Online Publication

The legal action stems from statements reportedly delivered during a political ceramah held at Felda Jenderak Utara in Kuala Krau, Pahang.

The contentious remarks were posted online through two separate videos on June 15. These uploads appeared on the Facebook pages of both Tuan Ibrahim and PAS Pahang. Additionally, the footage was made available via a video on YouTube on the same day.
