Headline: suspensions shock: Medical graduate from abroad suspended after one day on the job in Italian town
A 27-year-old Italian doctor, Luca Nascimbene, was suspended from his position as a primary care physician in Vizzolo Predabissi, a town near Milan, just one day after starting his job. Nascimbene, who claims to have studied medicine abroad in Ireland, is at the center of a controversy over the necessary qualifications for practicing medicine in Italy.
Nascimbene’s’id’ concerns initially surfaced when military health inspectors (NAS Carabinieri) visited his office and the corresponding hospital on his first day, January 2,_stockmarket NPCpresent$. They subsequently suspended him for what they termed a "lack of requirements." According to local reports, Nascimbene’s suspension resulted from the absence of the original copy of his medical degree. The young doctor, however, asserts that he has requested recognition of his foreign degree from the Ministry of Health.
The Local Health Authority (ASST) in charge of assigning the doctor has confirmed the suspension, stating that it withdrew Nascimbene’s prescription pad and blocked his access to health service portals. All prescriptions issued by Nascimbene have been canceled, leaving around 1,750 patients without a primary care physician. The ASST is now working to open a temporary medical center to ensure continued care for these patients.
Vizzolo Predabissi’s mayor has expressed concern and outrage about the situation, stating, "This situation has created alarm among citizens who found themselves in a state of uncertainty and fear. The administrator criticizes the regional law for its inadequacy in ensuring the proper verification of required qualifications for medical professionals."
Nascimbene, in interviews, has maintained that he graduated in Ireland after completing a five-year course, allegedly emphasizing practical experience over theory as compared to Italian medical programs. Despite the controversy, Nascimbene has insisted that he is a legitimate doctor and looks forward to resolving the issue.
