Breaking: No Reports of Injuries as Police Respond to Avalanche at Voss Ski Resort
Voss, Norway – Police have confirmed that there are no immediate reports of any individuals being taken by an avalanche that struck the Myrkdalen ski resort earlier today.
The incident was reported to authorities just before 11:00 AM local time. Dan Erik Johannessen, operations leader at the incident scene, stated, "We have no observations or missing persons reports from the affected area. There are a number of people in the resort, but no observations of anyone being taken."
The avalanche was described as 40-50 meters wide and approximately 100 meters long. Authorities have reported no further risk of additional avalanches. Emergency services, including a rescue team from the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) unit, are on their way to the scene, with air ambulances also mobilized.
Red Cross staff and main rescue services are assisting in the operation. Meteorologists have issued an orange alert for avalanches in the Voss region, though this is not effective until after midnight.
While initial searches are underway, rescue teams are currently focusing on ensuring the safety of those in the resort. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
