The incident occurred while Aya was playing near the 11th hole at the Rayong Green Valley Country Club in Ban Chang, Thailand. Her mother, 49-year-old Natcha Pradabyat, waited at the clubhouse as storms moved across the area. Medical personnel resuscitated the athlete after her heart stopped, but her condition remained critical throughout the night.

Doctors performed repeated resuscitation procedures, keeping her alive on life support equipment. She died shortly after her father reached the hospital on Monday morning. The family transported her home later that day for the funeral, Khaosod reported.

Family members questioned why tournament officials allowed play to proceed despite dangerous weather conditions. Aya’s 67-year-old grandmother, Aphorn Pradabyat, stated that lightning had struck the area twice on Sunday afternoon before the tragedy occurred. Tournament organizers did not halt the competition.
