Bulgarian Bear Pays Uninvited Morning Visit to Hunter‘s Home

A Bulgarian hunter had an unexpected visitor early one morning – a bear. Nedyalko Iliev from Chepelare recounted his unusual encounter in an interview with BTv’s "This Morning" show.

Iliev was still asleep when the loud barking of his dog woke him. Getting up, he looked out the window to see a large, brown bear circling his courtyard and trying to peer through his windows.

Despite the surprise, Iliev remained calm. This wasn’t his first bear encounter. After a while, the bear merely opened the courtyard’s outer gate and wandered off.

Iliev shared that when encountering a bear, it’s crucial to maintain composure. The bear’s intentions can be gauged by its fur – raised hackles indicate agitation, while a flat coat denotes no threat. Iliev, who often meets bears while in the forest, has always managed to avoid any conflicts.

Adding to the uniqueness of this incident, the protected animal seemed to havedrop1ed by just to say hello, according to Iliev.

Iliev’s first bear encounter occurred over 20 years ago. He was with a friend, hiking and making noise in the forest.

"When we made too much noise, we woke it up. It growled out of fear. Within seconds, I felt beads of sweat trickling down my forehead," Iliev recalled. "Every muscle in my body tensed up. My heart pounded fiercely. After all, it’s a bear, not just a cat," he laughed.
