Behaviour Interactive has revoked all in-game content previously gifted to streamer TheBurntPeanut, following a public backlash triggered by an unauthorized giveaway during a Halloween livestream. The developer confirmed on November 3, 2026, that it is also taking internal action against the employee responsible for the incident.
An employee bypassed game systems to gift content
WE CAN TAKE THE HEAT! THEY ARE YOURS TO KEEP!
the official Dead by Daylight Twitch account wrote in chat during an October 30, 2026, broadcast.

On that date, a member of the Behaviour Interactive team granted TheBurntPeanut access to the entire library of Dead by Daylight Survivors and Killers, plus in-game currency. The streamer joked about receiving streamer privilege,
after the content appeared in his in-game mailbox without prior announcement or promotion.
This unauthorized drop bypassed standard progression. Players usually start with a modest roster and must unlock Survivors and Killers using earned currency like Iridescent Shards or Auric Cells for licensed characters such as The Walking Dead’s Rick Grimes and Alien’s Xenomorph. Instead, the streamer was abruptly supplied with paid expansions and currency while playing alongside CoconutB and Cloakzy.

Viewers raised concerns regarding the streamer’s history, citing past on-stream behavior they characterized as racist and transphobic. When the streamer suggested he could step away to avoid further controversy, the Twitch account made the aforementioned comment.
Behaviour Interactive reviews internal procedures
The studio admitted via its @DbDPulse account on November 1, 2026, that the giveaway was conducted without receiving appropriate approvals.
While providing creators with early access for previews is common, this instance was executed by a lone employee outside of proper team discussions.

The company also acknowledged that the employee’s conduct during the stream was inappropriate. In a November 3 follow-up, Behaviour Interactive stated:
The team member’s subsequent comments and conduct do not align with Dead by Daylight’s core values.

The developer condemned inflammatory language and threats directed toward its staff, telling community members to stop engaging with these posts.
The studio has begun a review of internal processes to ensure future gifting initiatives are subject to oversight and consensus.
This weekend, a Dead by Daylight team member awarded in-game content and currency to a creator streaming our game. Although it is not unusual to unlock content to give creators discovering DbD a chance to have a sneak peek at available content, this decision was made without…
Players react to the controversy
Many players expressed frustration that the studio appeared to prioritize a controversial creator over long-term community members and creators who have spent years waiting for official recognition through the game’s Creator Program.
Behaviour Interactive addressed the loss of trust, noting that the path to reconciliation will be difficult. The studio emphasized its commitment to inclusive values:
I will no longer be playing DBD due to their choices this weekend. After 5500 hours over the past 4 years as a content creator I can not support a game that does not foster or promote a safe environment for the lgbtq community. I strongly encourage anyone else that supports lgbtq… pic.twitter.com/eV5MpRwlOZ
We appreciate and stand with our community’s willingness to ensure our shared values are being upheld, at all times, regardless of popularity, and we’re heartbroken at the inflammatory language now being directed towards our community.

As of November 3, 2026, the studio has confirmed that the previously granted DLC and currency have been removed from the streamer’s account.

this is why im continuing to step further away from Dead by Daylight. Problematic licenses and then rewarding homophobic and racist people with products? This is embarassing, especially since there are still AMAZING creators who you haven't been approved into your program yet… https://t.co/5rVNF9sw5E
I cannot word how disappointing and disgusted I am. I know full well this is just 1 BHVR employee, ive met some amazing people in the space and they would never let this happen.@DeadbyDaylight you need to make a response and I'm hoping you don't double down here. https://t.co/1SKYDsfYY9
So Dead by Daylight fucked up… and I uninstalled.@DeadbyDaylight @Behaviour pic.twitter.com/5U1IihMygR
this was in response to Peanut saying "if you dont want people on twitter to be upset, ill take the heat and you can take away the DLCs" pic.twitter.com/wVPdEWyEE4
if your employees are supporting racism, homophobia, and transphobia, when they target groups who get threatened and murdered every day i actually don’t give a shit if your employee is getting those threats back. don’t dish what you can’t eat. this post is STILL completely…
Due to recent actions from the Dead by Daylight team and their lackluster response with little damage control, especially not posting on their main, (my acc is larger btw.) I will not be purchasing the Terrifier chapter until sizable actions are made to prevent this again.
they really just letting ANYONE into the @DeadbyDaylight creator program huh? pic.twitter.com/ZnM9QFQeGV
