Belarus‘ Leader Lukashenko Apologized to Putin'”>Zelensky for Russian Missile Strikes, Proposed Targeting Oil Refinery During Early Days of Ukraine War

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed that Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko apologized for Russian missile strikes launched from Belarusian territory during the early days of the Ukraine war. Zelensky shared this information during an interview with American podcaster Lex Friedman.

According to Zelensky, the conversation with Lukashenko took place within the first few days of the full-scale war. Lukashenko apologized, saying, "This is not me. They’re firing rockets from my territory, and it’s Putin doing it." Zelensky quoted Lukashenko as saying, "I’m sorry. Trust me, Volodya, this is not me. I don’t control it; it’s just rockets, and it’s Putin…"

Zelensky, in response, labeled Lukashenko an "equal culprit," emphasizing that missiles were launched from Belarusian soil. When Lukashenko suggested that Ukraine retaliate by striking the Mозырский (Mozyrsky) oil refinery, Zelensky was incredulous, asking, "What are you talking about? What kind of response is that?"

Zelensky clarified that this conversation occurred during the second or third day of the war.
