Bergensbanen Shutdown: Latest Update – Line Remains Closed Until Friday Evening
In a recent update from Bane Nor, it has been announced that Bergensbanen will remain closed until at least Friday evening. Bane Nor will provide a new update at 9 PM on Friday.
The line has been closed since Monday night between Hallingskeid and Myrdal due to a snow avalanche that was over 50 meters wide and swept away a snow shed. Challenging weather conditions during cleanup efforts have resulted in extended closure times.
"Conditions have been quite challenging up there. Now, some of the snow has also frozen," said Mari Rjaanes, press spokesperson for Bane Nor.
Temporary bus services have been arranged between Voss and Ål, but some departures have also been suspended.
