Bergsåker Targets Record Fundraising for Prostate Cancer Research During Saturday V85

Bergsåker racetrack is aiming to surpass last year’s fundraising total of 364,000 kronor during Saturday’s V85 race meeting, Expressen reported. The event, known as Mustaschtravet, forms part of Prostatacancerförbundet’s nationwide November campaign to support research and treatment development for Sweden’s most common cancer.

We are collecting money in the fight against prostate cancer, said Mohammed Malla, sports manager at Bergsåker. Prostate cancer accounts for 29 percent of all cancer diagnoses among Swedish men, with approximately 11,000 individuals affected annually.

Donations Linked to US Training Visits and Breeding Rights

Åke Svanstedt started his career as an apprentice with Stig H Johansson and became a professional at Bergsåker racetrack in 1983 before moving to the United States in 2013, where the 67-year-old has established himself as one of the country’s top trainers. Additional auction items include a live foal fee after the trotting star Francesco Zet, which was donated by Zet Stallions, alongside hotel packages, artwork, and hockey experiences. Francesco Zet was driven by driver Örjan Kihlström and earned 28,4 miljoner kronor.

Drivers and Betting Partners Join the November Campaign

I think it is a matter of course to step up for such a good cause, Pihlström said.

ATG’s initiatives include special Mustasch-Harry Boy tickets, a custom casino slot where half of the net gaming revenue goes to the Prostatacancerförbundet, and fundraising tied to upcoming Swedish handball national team matches. ATG has been the main partner of Prostatacancerförbundet since 2018, and Johanna Åberg, Head of Marketing at ATG, noted that Prostatacancer är Sveriges vanligaste cancerform och berör många. ATG and the Prostatacancerförbundet will be present at the Mall of Scandinavia on November 14 when Sweden plays Bosnia-Herzegovina to raise awareness, spread knowledge, and collect money for Mustaschkampen. ATG’s sports division will also launch a Mustaschboost for selected matches, boosting odds on designated bets during the Nations League matches between Sweden and Bosnia-Herzegovina on November 14 and Poland and Sweden on November 17, with five percent of the turnover going to Mustaschkampen.
