Asian destinations capture the top spots for spontaneous travel, driven heavily by travelers seeking peak-season heat. Thailand ranks as the world’s most popular last-minute holiday destination, with 74.8% of accommodation bookings made within seven days of arrival, according to Sirvoy data. Furthermore, 56.8% of travelers in Thailand secure their lodging on the same day or the next day. Travelers heading to Thailand must note that bookings often coincide with monsoon season, bringing rainfall alongside hot weather and lower prices.
The Philippines follows closely behind in second place, where last-minute reservations account for 71.7% of all accommodation bookings. Similar to Thailand, the Philippines experiences rainy conditions through October. Indonesia also ranks high on the list, securing sixth place globally with 55.8% of bookings made at the last minute.

Finland ranks eighth with 53.3% week-ahead bookings, followed by the Netherlands in ninth place with 52.3%. Sweden rounds out the top ten, where last-minute reservations represent 51.9% of all trips, and 30.9% of visitors finalize their stay within 24 hours of arrival.
