BIGSOUND Celebrates 25 Years of Record-Breaking Artist Support

by Chief Editor

QMusic is marking the 25th anniversary of the BIGSOUND festival by launching the largest artist support package in the event’s history. According to interim CEO Kristy Ellis, the initiative ensures every act on the “BIGSOUND 100” lineup receives a travel contribution, a free conference delegate pass, and access to a new QR-code-based direct payment system for fans.

Direct Fan-to-Artist Funding Models

A central feature of the 2026 support package is the “Stage Drive” initiative, funded by Oztix. This technology allows concertgoers to make direct financial contributions to artists via QR codes displayed during live sets. Oztix CEO Stuart Field stated that the tool is designed to put money directly into the hands of performers at the point of impact.

The expansion of travel funding for the 100 showcasing acts relies on a coalition of government and philanthropic support. Contributors include the Harding Foundation, Hutchinson Builders, the Apostolos Family, and the Shepherd Foundation. Kristy Ellis described the funding model as evidence of what can be achieved when government, philanthropy, and industry partners align behind a singular goal of career acceleration.
