Breaking News: Explosion Rocks Zaporizhzhia; Regional Air Raid Alerts triggered

ZAPORIZHZHIA, Ukraine — A loud explosion echoed through the city of Zaporizhzhia late on December 26, as warned by military authorities who had previously advised of potential ballistic threats. The blast occurred around 23:01 local time.
Earlier in the evening, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Air Force had issued warnings about possible ballistic missile strikes from the south. Just a minute before the explosion, the military confirmed that an enemy missile was headed towards Zaporizhzhia.
Following the blast, Ivan Fedorenko, the head of Zaporizhzhia’s Military Administration, advised residents to adhere to safety protocols, noting that the threat remains ongoing.
Regional Air Raid Alerts Continue
As of 23:06, air raid alerts continued in several Ukrainian regions, including Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipro, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Donetsk. Authorities also cautioned residents about the ongoing threat of drone attacks, in addition to ballistic missiles.
This episode comes after a day of intense Russian attacks across Ukraine. Russian forces previously targeted Sumy with cluster munition aerial bombs (KAzonas), while small explosive drones were reported near Kyiv in the morning.
