PLOVDIV REGION STRUGGLES WITH SEVERE WINTER CONDITIONS; SNOW CAUSES TRAFFIC ISSUES AND POWER OUTAGES

Heavy snowfall has blanketed the Pловdiv region, causing traffic disruptions and power outages in several villages. The snow storm, which began late last night, has made travel treacherous, with roads to some villages completely blocked.

In the area around the "Zdravets" hut, a kilometer of road has become impassable, stranding residents and affecting traffic. The regional administration has dispatched crews to clear the snow, but the ongoing storm is slowing down efforts. Motorists are advised to use winter tires and exercise caution while driving.

The village of Bойkovo has been particularly hard hit. Due to power lines covered in snow, the village is experiencing a power outage, leaving residents without electricity. Some parts of the village are also facing water supply issues. Emergency services are working to restore power and water as soon as possible.

The Plovdiv fire department has been mobilized, responding to over 25 calls about fallen trees blocking roads and causing traffic jams. They urge drivers to be patient and cooperate with emergency services while navigating the affected areas.

Paramedics and rescue teams have been placed on high alert, ready to assist in any emergency situations that may arise. The Regional Crisis Management Center has activated its contingency plan, coordinating resources to manage the situation and ensure the safety of residents.

Driving conditions are expected to remain challenging throughout the day as more snow is forecast. Residents and travelers are advised to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and to follow all safety guidelines provided by local authorities.
