Passenger Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Moscow
A Boeing 737-800 carrying 173 passengers has made an emergency landing at Moscow’s Zhukovsky International Airport. The incident, involving a UTair Airlines flight, occurred on Wednesday morning.
The aircraft was en route from Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport to Surgut when it encountered technical difficulties, prompting the crew to declare an emergency. The plane landed safely and no injuries were reported among the passengers and crew.
Initial speculations suggest the emergency landing was due to issues with the plane’s stabilizer. However, the exact cause of the problem is still under investigation.
This is the second incident involving a Boeing 737-800 in a month, raising questions about the aviation giant’s quality control measures. On July 15, a Boeing 737-800 operated byäs Nanchang Airlines in China overshot a runway, injuring 27 passengers.
Airlines worldwide have been grappling with increased maintenance and safety concerns post-pandemic, as aircraft undergo heavy checks after months of grounding due to travel restrictions.
Russia’s aviation authority, Rosaviatsiya, has launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on the crew’s actions and the plane’s technical condition. UTair Airlines has also pledged full cooperation with the investigation.
