Title: Border Police Officer’s Hunting Mishap: Shooting Friend While Reloading on the Move

In a bizarre and potentially deadly incident, a border police officer found himself in hot water after accidentally shooting his friend while attempting to reload his gun during a hunting expedition in the Strandja region of Bulgaria. The incident, which occurred around 7 AM on Sunday, December 29, left the friend, identified as N.N., with minor injuries.

Fortunately, the incident ended without any fatalities or serious consequences, thanks to a stroke of luck. The officer, T.K., hailing from the town of Kameno, was driving with N.N. in a Suzuki Samurai jeep towards the villages of Zvezdec and Mladezhko when the incident took place.

According to sources familiar with the case, T.K. decided to check his ammunition and began to reload his weapon as the vehicle moved through the forest. It seems that he was reloading with birdshot, probably intended for smaller game, or possibly switching to larger calibers. The gun discharged, grazing N.N.’s arm.

"Lucky he wasn’t using buckshot, or it could have been a disaster," the source told Flagman.bg. "Even though it was just a flesh wound, his actions were far from professional, whether you look at them as a border guard or a hunter."

Investigators from the Ministry of the Interior and the prosecutor’s office were on the scene in Zvezdec village by midday, inspecting the vehicle and collecting statements. Tests for alcohol and drugs, as well as checks on their hunting licenses and weapons, are pending. Stay tuned to Flagman.bg for updates on this unusual hunting accident.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety protocols and responsible handling of firearms, especially in situations where emotions may be running high, such as during a hunting trip. It also underscores the need for regular training and safety refreshers for all who carry firearms, including law enforcement officials.
