title: Severe Delays Expected at Chile Border Crossings Despite 24-Hour Operation
The passage to Chile through the Cristo Redentor System is notorious this summer for its endless queues of Argentine tourists, particularly Mendoza residents, causing serious delays that reached 7 hours from the International Tunnel to the Los Libertadores Customs Complex.
Reinforcing Attention came too late, failing to solve ongoing delays. On Monday, issues with Chile’s customs computers exacerbated the border bottlenecks. While the system usually opens late, no improvement was reported in the morning, with another 7-hour wait anticipated midday.
Pehuenche Crossing, though closed from 6 pm to 9 am, saw around 280 vehicles cross with nearly 900 tourists aboard on Monday.
