In December 2024, we, Rumen Dimitrov and Nikol Atanasova, embarked on an expedition to St. Petersburg, Russia, from December 20th to 29th. We chose Russia, a nation rich in history, culture, and tradition, which has made significant sacrifices for Bulgaria’s freedom. adjoined by the media.

Our host families welcomed us with open arms. They shared stories over hearty meals, guided us through their neighborhoods, and even taught us a few words in Russian. Their hospitality was genuine and unmatched.

The media often overlooks the resilience and spirit of the Russian people. While they face challenges, they maintain a strong sense of community and pride. We witnessed this firsthand as we shared laughter, songs, and stories with new friends.

A Different Perspective

Our trip to Russia challenged our initial perceptions. We discovered a country brimming with culture, warmth, and history. The media’s portrayal often fails to capture the nuances of a nation, let alone its people.
